washington - The US Senate Friday agreed to the appointment of Scott Pruitt as head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Of all the candidates Minister Donald Trump has been nominated for his government, Pruitt was in progressive circles one of the most controversial. Especially for this function.

As Attorney General of Oklahoma Pruitt was a sworn enemy of environmentalists. On behalf of the state with its major oil and gas industry, he made several processes at the service he will now lead. The new EPA chief had also repeatedly managed to doubt the scientific evidence for climate change.

Many Republicans, a majority in the Senate, found him a welcome change of guard after the EPA coal industry had declared war under the direction of Obama with strict emission rules, so many jobs have been lost. Sen. John Barrasso, chairman of the Environment Committee, said Truitt's care once he is sworn in for reform and modernization of the EPA.

The opposition mainly showed concern. Democrat Ben Cardin expects Obama's Clean Power Plan to reduce emissions from the combustion of fossil fuel goes into the trash. The environmental consequences are obvious. According to Cardin sends the dreaded new policy the US has internationally a bad name in the pursuit of climate change to a halt.
