Security at German carnival

cologne - In Germany, measures are taken to protect the carnival against attacks involving vehicles.

The routes of the carnival parades and places where many people are shielded by barriers to make it impossible, for example trucks to reach the audience and the participants.

The measures taken in response to the attack in the German capital Berlin on December 19, 2016, when a terrorist with a truck crashed into a Christmas market visitors. In this terrorist attack were twelve deaths and 48 people were injured.

The carnival begins in Germany on Saturday, February 25th. Especially in cities such as Cologne and Dusseldorf the festival is massively celebrated in the west of the country.
