la jolla - US scientists have for the first time created an embryo that is both human and pig. The remarkable creation is a milestone in the investigation of the possibility to grow human organs in the body of animals.

The researchers, at the University of California, Chimera embryos have been baptized, a creature from Greek mythology composed of various animals.

'The goal is to grow tissues or organs suitable for transplantation in humans,' says scientist Juan Carlos, who allege both that it will temporarily be still in the future. Should the experiment succeed, the shortage of donor organs will ultimately reduce drastically, the researchers expected.

It embryo, which consists of 0.0001 percent from human tissue, could be made by injecting to human stem cells into the embryo of a pig.

According to the scientists will pig with a human body in itself look like ordinary pigs. They would behave the same. Critics fear that the presence of human stem cells may affect the brains and behavior of the animal.

Animal activists are worried that the animal will suffer. They pledged to implement more action to recruit organ donors.
