Saudi Arabia breaks ties with Iran

- Saudi Arabia has announced Sunday to break diplomatic ties with Iran. The country attracts all diplomats returning from Iran and Iranian representatives 48 hours given the time to do the same in Saudi Arabia.

The break is a response to the storming of the Saudi embassy in the Iranian capital Tehran Saturday. Thereby founded a crowd of demonstrators fire in the building. The protest was a response to the execution of prominent Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr in Saudi Arabia.

There had long been tensions between the predominantly Sunni Saudi Arabia and Shiite Iran, which earlier in the day calling for calm. President Hassan Rohani condemned both the execution and the storming, in which he promised to prosecute offenders.
