The arrests took place several hours after a new anti-corruption agency was set up. The committee is chaired by Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, reports the BBC.

What exactly the suspicions are is not known, but according to Al-Arabiya, recent studies have begun on Jeddah floods in 2009 and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) virus in 2012, which demanded many lives.
