Sales record for Volkswagen in 2017

WOLFSBURG (AFN)- The German car company Volkswagen achieved a worldwide sales record in 2017 of more than 10.7 million vehicles, an increase of 4.3 percent. This is shown by the sales figures that the largest car manufacturer in Europe brought out.

The company from Wolfsburg is the parent company of brands like Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Seat, Skoda and trucks from MAN and Scania. Sales in almost all regions went up last year, with substantial increases in Russia and South America. On the German home market, however, sales fell slightly.

With the main brand Volkswagen, sales grew by more than 4 percent to the new record of 6.2 million cars. At Audi luxury brand, growth was 0.6 percent to almost 1.9 million vehicles. Topman Matthias Müller indicated that he was grateful for the trust customers place in the company, after the emissions scandal that Volkswagen had previously struggled with and that had to cost billions.
