new york - Russia has for the eighth time used its veto to block a resolution of the UN Security Council against Syria and President Bashar al-Assad. Wednesday were a strong condemnation of the deadly poison gas attack in Idlib province and pressure on the Syrian government to allow international experts for examination.

China, six times so far sided with Assad himself time abstaining, as well as Ethiopia and Kazakhstan. Ten countries agreed on the text, which was drafted by the US, Britain and France. Bolivia joined Russia and voted against.
