moscow - The Russian presidential candidate and former television star Ksenia Sobchak argues for the legalization of marijuana in her country. She says the drug is less dangerous for society than vodka, reports The Moscow Times.

Sobchak is doing the presidential election in March for the Civic Participation Party, a platform that turns 'against everyone'. She is the daughter of Anatoli Sobchak, the first democratically elected mayor of St. Petersburg and former mentor of President Vladimir Putin.

At a meeting with supporters in Kaliningrad, Sobchak said the legalization of weed could help solve the 'narcotics epidemic' in Russia. 'I do not use it myself, but I do not drink vodka per bottle,' she said according to the news agency RIA Novosti.
