Russian opposition leader attacked by Cossacks

moscow - Russian opposition leader Aleksandr Navalni Tuesday attacked by a group of Cossacks. Images of the attack appeared on various social media.

The incident took place at Anapa airport, some 1,500 kilometers south of the capital Moscow. Navalni was there with a group of activists for a teambuilding weekend when they were attacked.

According Navalni the authorities were behind the attack and the police laid the Cossacks no obstacle in the way. Women also received blows, thus Navalni. One of the activists ended up in a hospital. Five others, including Navalni itself, also suffered injuries.

The Cossacks held a different reading after. One of them, Dmitri Slaboda, said the original plan was to throw Navalni and its allies with milk. However, they shared an elbow from an old Cossack, claims Slaboda, after which the flame hit the pan.
