Russian fighters killed in Syria

- At least three Russian fighters have been killed in Syria Monday when they were attacked with grenades in the coastal province of Latakia . The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which Tuesday heard from a senior soldier from the Syrian army. To our knowledge this is the first incident where Russians were killed .

The Moscow government has always denied until now that Russian ground forces operating in Syria. However, rumors that this is the case circulating for some time.

The death of the three could indicate that there is indeed ground troops battling it with the government forces of President Bashar al- Assad, but it is not certain whether they were regular soldiers of the Russian army. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights comes time being that it is volunteers.
