Russian caught for smuggling 12 million cigarettes

keel - A man who has been wanted for years for the smuggling of millions of cigarettes has been arrested by the federal police in Kiel, Germany. The 43-year-old Russian would have smuggled about 12 million cigarettes to Germany as members of a gang.

The tax authorities lost almost 1.7 million euros in taxes, the federal police said Thursday. Since 2014 there has been an arrest warrant against the man. The alleged smuggler was caught during a routine check this week.
