Russia: West is building iron curtain
moscow - The West risks a return to the Cold War with its actions in the case of the former double spy Sergei Skripal, says the Russian foreign intelligence service SWR. 'For fear of change, the West is prepared to build a new iron curtain around it,' said SWR chief Sergei Narisjkin on Wednesday in Moscow.
According to him, a Russian threat has become a fixation of Washington. 'This has taken on such a scale and ridiculous features that you can in a certain sense speak of a return of the gloomy times of the Cold War,' said Narishkin against the Interfax news agency. 'But there are no objective reasons for such a procedure. '
Britain suspects Russia of being responsible for the attack a month ago on Skripal and his daughter. London assumes that Skripal has been poisoned with the nerve gas Novitsjok manufactured in the Soviet Union and accuses Russia of being the brain of the attack. Moscow denies this violently. Narisjkin called the allegations a 'grotesque provocation, invented by British and American intelligence agencies. '
