geneva - Members of the Muslim Rohingya minority continue to flee Myanmar. Said Ra'ad al-Hussein, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, said that more than 11,000 Rohingya had migrated to Bangladesh since the beginning of this year.

'They are still fleeing persecution,' Ra'ad al-Hussein said. 'To be able to flee they are even prepared to risk that they die at sea. '

Almost 700,000 Rohingya fled Myanmar last year. Myanmar security forces said they had started an operation against the Rohingya in response to attacks by insurgents of this Muslim population. The Rohingya ended up in camps in neighboring Bangladesh, where the conditions were miserable.
