World February 26, 2017 09:06

athens - Anarchists in the night from Saturday to Sunday wreaked havoc in the Exarchia district of the Greek capital Athens. They threw Molotov cocktails and stones at police. They crossed garbage containers on fire. The police closed the streets around the Technical University some time off.

Exarchia is true for years as anarchist stronghold in Athens. In 2016, the Athens police closed the offices in this neighborhood. This year seems to aggravate the violence. Several times buses are forced to stop, after which the passengers had left the bus. Then the coach was fired.

Exarchia is located between two major universities. The opposition socialist party PASOK, extreme leftist groups and human rights organizations have their headquarters. The district also houses addicts.
