Review: Mass Effect Andromeda (PS4)

- BioWare did with Mass Effect trilogy to conquer the hearts of many gamers. But the time of Commander Shepard is behind us and after waiting five years is finally Mass Effect Andromeda. Can the reputation to uphold?

With Andromeda running RPG series Mass Effect no longer Commander Shepard, but we meet brother and sister Ryder. As we have come to expect from BioWare you can choose whether you are playing with the male or female character. You may they both designed to taste.

In the game, the Andromeda galaxy is the new frontier. Several spacecraft is from the Milky Way a journey of more than 600 years. Aboard the varieties we know from the previous games, which are artificially asleep. Arriving prove the planets, however, not suitable to live. Thus this is and how it should be solved, that is the job of Ryder, who is responsible as a pathfinder for finding a new home.

BioWare is highly regarded for both Mass Effect and Dragon Age series. Andromeda has unfortunately not that level. That one stabbing dropped painfully clear at the animation of the characters. They look weird in their eyes, a strange facial expression or sometimes have no facial expression. In addition, during dialogues regularly changes the volume at which the characters speak in answering questions.

And to make matters worse also allows the controller to be desired during the battles over. More than once you lay early Bob because such control is in the way, that you can not get away in time. That makes it really is difficult to continue playing to see where the story eventually goes.

I have been a big fan of what BioWare is doing and looked really looking forward to Mass Effect Andromeda. The result is unfortunately very disappointing. I would love to love this game title, but it made me damn hard. There will probably come a lot patches to improve things, but it probably will not help enough. There are much better quality games available, including Horizon Zero Dawn, I do not know if I'll play this title.
