antwerp - The correctional court of Antwerp has the former imam Yussuf E.G. (28) from Berchem sentenced to eight years in prison and 8000 euros fine for participation in Islamic State (IS). He also loses his Belgian nationality.
Three friends with whom E. G. left for Syria in 2015 were each sentenced to five years in prison, a fine of 8,000 euros and also the loss of Belgian nationality. They have a Moroccan passport to fall back on. The four defendants let go of their trial. They are probably still in the battle area or have died in the meantime.
