Restoring collapsed German highway takes years

tribsees - The recovery of the huge gap in the German A20 motorway in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will take at least another three years. The autobahn at Tribsees has collapsed over a length of almost 100 meters.

In September the first cracks appeared in the Baltic motorway and this week the highway changed into a meter-deep crater. The cause of the subsidence is still not clear. In the coming months it will be investigated whether it is construction or a soil problem.

The A20 motorway is an important traffic route for holiday traffic to the Baltic Sea. The highway is relatively young. It was not until 2005 that the road was built.
