london - The British Government must allocate funds for research into trauma that veterans have suffered during the 1990-1991 Gulf War. That finds the charity Royal British Legion. According to the institution is too little known about the trauma where about to experience 33 000 former soldiers have, because there is no academic research has been done yet.

Veterans suffer from the so-called Gulf War Syndrome. They have complaints include chronic headaches, fatigue and memory problems, the BBC reported Sunday. Problems arise when more than 60 percent of the British soldiers who are deployed during Operation Desert Storm in Iraq.
There are almost 10 000 British Gulf War veterans who receive a so-called war pension because they have contracted a disease or were injured during their work.
According to the Royal British Legion research is needed to improve treatment and rehabilitation. The Ministry of Defence has indicated openness to new research proposals.
Why Gulf War veterans have suffered more trauma than soldiers who were sent to other areas, is not clear. It may have to do with vaccinations, depleted uranium was used in heavy weapons, pesticides, exposure to nerve agents or the inhalation of toxic smoke emanating from the burning of oil fields.
Doctors and activists are also debating whether the syndrome is actually unique to the Gulf War.
