cologne - The German authorities are investigating whether sea lions in the Cologne Zoo cause noise pollution. One resident had complained that the noisy animals kept her awake at night.
The local authorities take the complaint seriously. Measurements should show whether the five Californian sea lions make too much noise. If the animals do indeed cause a nuisance, the zoo will discuss measures. It is still unclear why the animals make noise in the night hours. The Kölner Zoo wants to place a camera to map the problem.
