- Costa Rica has reacted with dismay after the double murder of two Dutch who lived on a large teak plantation. Hans Snelders and his partner Sita Dhawtal according to the police become the victim of a robbery at their remote timber farm about an hour southwest of San José.

,, We are very shocked, '' said the Dutch hotel owner Jos de Haan who twosome knew well. When Snelders years ago came to Costa Rica for a manager to start on the large teak plantation La Flecha, he regularly spent the night in his hotel Rincón in the Costa Rican capital. Later Snelders and his wife live on the plantation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that,, everything suggests '' that the two Dutch are deceased. Were contacted by relatives in the Netherlands. The Hague is still waiting for an official confirmation from the Public Prosecutor from the Central American country. Gagged Besides lifeless couple saw the police on Monday also the remains of a Nicaraguan worker. The couple was gagged and lying indoors. Their employee Rivar Avenec Montalbán was outside in the yard. Because the triple murder probably took place just after Christmas, the bodies were already in some state of decomposition.,, Robberies on plantations and farms sometimes occur in Costa Rica, '' says De Haan.,, But we are shocked because foreigners usually get just to deal with crime. I get twenty thousand annual tourists from Germany and the Netherlands in my hotel. Last year there was one guest who was robbed of his backpack. Nothing else, '' said the hotelier. Cash geldDe police in Costa Rica indeed assumes that robbers were after cash. Television screens and other expensive electronic equipment were untouched in the house. The car was not preserved. The way the Dutch have lost their lives was because of the decomposition of the bodies clearly right. That is still under investigation. Hans Snelders emigrated to Costa Rica, after a career as an ICT consultant and publisher in the Netherlands to develop the 400 hectares of teak plantation size commercial. He was manager on behalf of the Association of Buyers Ganadera La Flecha, a club with more than three hundred members. Snelders has among others tried to interest other Dutch to build houses on the plantation.
