london - The 31-year-old Briton Matthew Hedges has arrived in Great Britain. He landed on Tuesday morning at London's Heathrow airport. The scientist was sentenced to life imprisonment in the United Arab Emirates last week because of espionage, but got pardon on Monday.
The UAE had announced the release of Hedges, shortly after showing a video on which the Briton seemed to admit that he had been spying on the British intelligence service MI6. Britain has denied that he is a spy and has welcomed his release. Earlier, London threatened with measures if the academic would not be released.
