Refugees queue for asylum
athens - Refugees on Monday in Athens to stand in line to gain access to the asylum system in the European Union.
With a new procedure Greece hopes that they can be quickly redeployed in other EU countries or to be reunited with family.
Approximately 48 000 refugees stuck on the Greek mainland by the closure of the borders in the Balkans, where last year a million people from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq made their way to Western Europe.

In the first three days the procedure is paid by the EU force, 1200 asylum seekers have been registered. Once they 'pre-registration' had, refugees have the right to remain in Greece and have access to basic services.
