- The American police during CES raided the status of a Chinese manufacturer of hover boards. All-wheeled vehicles and promotional material are thereby seized.

The confiscated self-balancing vehicles have only one wheel and thus seem very similar to the onewheel hoverboard from the American company Future Motion. The raid also follows an indictment of the American competitor China Changzhou First International Trade accused of patent infringement.
Future Motion launched formal proceedings as soon as it was told that a Chinese manufacturer at the electronics show in Las Vegas would show a cheaper one-wheeled hoverboard. The company claims to have patent on both the design of the vehicle and the self-balancing technology. It calls for a ban on the sale of Chinese hoverboards on the US market.
The company also claims to have applied for patents in other countries, including China. These application procedures are still ongoing. Should the patent be granted in China than the company wants to enforce a ban on production.
A spokesman for the Chinese Changzhou stated in a reaction to the BBC know not to believe that his company has violated the law. The company would be the hoverboard for some time have been developed before, but have kept secret to prevent it being copied by other Chinese manufacturers.
The one-wheeled hoverboard made in China is for sale through the online store of Alibaba for $ 550, which is almost two-thirds cheaper than onewheel Future Motion.
