Queen Elizabeth says goodbye to flagship British Navy

- Queen Elizabeth will say goodbye to the HMS Ocean next week in Plymouth. The flagship of the British Navy, which was sold to Brazil due to austerity measures, will be waved off on Tuesday.

MEP Luke Pollard announced the arrival of the British queen via Twitter. He calls it great that Elizabeth comes back to Plymouth, but also talks about 'a sad day for our city, Devonport and the Royal Navy because of the dismantling of the HMS Ocean'. Pollard thinks it is not a good idea to cut back on defense, given the increasing threat from Russia.

Elizabeth was in Plymouth for the last time in March 2015. Even then she visited the city because of the HMS Ocean. The amphibious transport ship had just undergone a refurbishment of 65 million pounds.

On Tuesday, a big ceremony will say goodbye to the ship, which was commissioned by Elizabeth in 1998. The 91-year-old queen is present as a guest of honor. Probably Elizabeth inspects the HMS Ocean one last time and meets the crew of the ship.
