Quarter feels strange in their own country

amsterdam - Almost a quarter of the Dutch feel a stranger in their own country because of the number of Muslims present. And 41% think that Muslims want to impose their religious laws on the rest of the country deep inside.

This is shown by research by the American Pew Research Center about which Het Nieuwsblad writes. The researchers asked the same questions to 25,000 people in fifteen Western European countries.

Another 48% of the Dutch think that the number of immigrants coming to our country should be reduced. One in seven people in our country think that Muslim women should not wear religious clothing at all.

The research shows that the Dutch are more tolerant towards Muslims than, for example, Belgium. With our southern neighbors, 37% no longer feel at home in their own country. And one in five Belgians think that most Muslims support violent groups.

More than half of the Germans, the French and the Swedes regard migrants from the Middle East as fair.
