Quarrel for Yemen's crimes

sana'a - The Netherlands is in danger of losing out in the battle for the extension of a war crimes investigation in Yemen. The government of that country refuses, despite heavy pressure, to extend the mandate of UN experts.

They came last month with a devastating verdict on the bloody battle. The Arab coalition, which under the leadership of Saudi Arabia is trying to restore the regime of the ousted President Hadi, is held responsible for the majority of civilian deaths. The researchers also came up with a long list of attacks on civilian targets, from busy markets to weddings.

The Houti rebels, against whom the coalition struggles, have also committed war crimes, but on a much smaller scale. Both the Yemeni government and the Arab coalition are furious with the findings and dismiss the report as biased and inaccurate.
