'Put Europol on murder Slovak journalist'

strasbourg - In order to solve the mafia-like murder of Slovak journalist Jan Kuciak, the country must work closely with Europol. The country must also cooperate with investigations conducted by the European anti-fraud agency OLAF into possible abuse of EU subsidies.

The European Commission made this call on Wednesday. 'An independent and thorough investigation is a top priority. Europol is ready to help. We encourage the authorities to use it as soon as possible, 'said EU Commissioner Julian King (Security) in the European Parliament. A parliamentary delegation that visited Slovakia last week makes similar recommendations.

Kuciak (27) investigated ties between Italian mafia and government circles, where EU money would have been misused. He was shot dead with his girlfriend at the end of February. Seven Italians have been arrested, but they have been released for lack of evidence.
