Puigdemont: independence is not necessary

World November 13, 2017 16:27

madrid - The Catalan separatist politician Carles Puigdemont expressed himself in Brussels for 'another anchoring of Catalonia in Spain'.

Puigdemont spoke with the Belgian newspaper Le Soir. His statements published Monday are counterproductive of his radical nationalist policy that Catalonia collapsed last month in an almost unprecedented deep crisis.

'It is always possible for this autonomous community (Catalonia) to seek a solution other than independence, which is always possible,' said Puigdemont. He stressed 'always willing to accept another relationship with Spain. 'Puigdemont said that the Catalan advocates of independence would have nothing less than the independent state of their own.

The current crisis denounces Puigdemont, who has been deployed as a government leader and has been devoted to Brussels, to the policy since 2010 of the Conservative Party of current Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, People's Party (PP).
