Protest Party is heading for victory in Rome
rome - Rome may get its first female mayor. A ballot poll shows that Virginia Raggi protest party than M5S is leading in the first round of the mayoral elections on Sunday in the Italian capital.
The poll shows that Raggi can count on 34 to 38 percent of the vote. Her biggest rival Roberto Giachetti, a party colleague of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, would continue stabbing a 20 to 24 percent of the vote. Another so-called exit poll paints a similar picture.
If the polls are correct, and receives no more than 50 percent of the votes of the candidates, the Romans allowed a second time to vote. The second round of voting would be held on 19 June. The battle is over between the two candidates who received the most votes Sunday.
