President Gauck does not want new term

- German President Joachim Gauck is not available for a second term. He informed this Monday in his official residence, Schloss Bellevue in the center of Berlin.

The media speculated at the weekend that all 76-year-old Gauck wants no new term in 2017. Gauck allowed himself to travel to China in March remarked that he must keep still taking very seriously for a new term of five years with his physical and mental strength.

The non-party Gauck was Federal President in March 2012, a ceremonial function. He is loved and respected. He would keep his decision Monday night to explain it at a dinner with Chancellor Angela Merkel. Merkel wanted to Gauck stayed on.
