Montigny-le-Gannelon

In the Château de Montigny castle in the French department of Eure-et-Loire is a set of etchings by the famous Spanish painter Goya found. The etchings emerged from a large cash book in the library of the castle.

According to experts the set came just 570. 000. The owners of the castle have asked Sotheby's in London auctioned the work. One of their ancestors, the Marquis de Laval, is believed to be the original purchaser of the pieces.

The descendants of the Marquis found in the vast 19th-century register, which lay behind deep shelves, first ninety 'boring' French military prints. Later in the register was the work of Francisco Goya (1746-1828) sandwiched between two pages. The etchings are more than 150 years forgotten.

It is about 33 images under the title La Tauromaquia, bullfighting, created by Goya in 1815 to 1816, so sign English and French media.
