
Portuguese Antonio Guterres new UN boss
- The former Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Guterres is the UN's successor Ban Ki-moon as Secretary-General. Wednesday he made himself known to the members of the Security Council elected him.
' I am honored and happy, 'tweeted Guterres. Earlier in the day agreed none of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council against Guterres (67). This was seen as a clear step towards his appointment. The fifteen members of the council always votes in secret over the ten candidates.
The Communication Guterres that the Security Council also adopted a resolution to recommend him officially to the General Assembly of the UN.
