Pompeo: US builds up North Korea

washington - If North Korea gives up its nuclear weapons program, the US will help to raise the country to the prosperity level of South Korea. This is what the US Secretary of State said on Friday after consulting Washington with his South Korean counterpart.

Mike Pompeo visited the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un this week in the run-up to his summit with US President Donald Trump, on June 12 in Singapore.

'When President Kim chooses the right path, there is a future full of peace and prosperity for the North Korean people,' said Pompeo. According to the Minister, both countries 'are in agreement' about the goals that must be achieved.
