Pompeo promises Iran the 'most severe sanctions'

washington - US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that his country will impose the 'strictest sanctions in history' on Iran. Pompeo made the verdict in Washington during his first big speech as minister.

US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 that his country is canceling the nuclear deal with Iran in 2015 and is again setting economic sanctions against the country. With the sanctions, according to Pompeo, the US wants to 'exert unprecedented financial pressure' on the Tehran government in order to reduce the dominance of Iran in the Middle East. 'The recently introduced sanctions are just the beginning,' said Pompeo.

The minister made twelve demands on Iran and said that the sanctions are only relieved if Washington sees tangible shifts in Iranian policy.
