warsaw - In many Polish cities have tens of thousands of people demonstrated Saturday against a controversial new media law by the Conservative government.

Friday entered into force law states that key positions in public broadcasting may henceforth be appointed by the Government.

Already on the same day new television and radio bosses were appointed and dismissed several senior editors. Monday will be appointed as new directors of public broadcasting.

Warsaw gathered an estimated 5,000 protesters. With slogans such as 'Hands off the radio 'and' The government is lying,' she demanded repeal of the law. Protesters compared the strong man of the conservative nationalist government Jaroslaw Kaczynski with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
