Pink Star with 67 million now most expensive diamond

hong-kong - A 59.6 carat tough diamond has raised at an auction in Hong Kong record amount equivalent to approximately 67 million euros. It is the Pink Star (Blue Star), which was found in South Africa eighteen years ago.

The gem was three years ago for an even higher price (about 78 million) auctioned but the purchaser was found that would not be able to pay. Sotheby's took back the stone on it. The buyer this time is the biggest jeweler in the world, Chow Tai Fook Hong Kong.

The Pink Star took the title of most expensive diamond for the Oppenheimer Blue which was repulsed at Christie's in May last year at 51.3 million.
