washington - The US Department of Defense has stated on Wednesday that it will not create a new army or a border troops in Syria. Earlier in the day, Turkey had fiercely responded to US plans to train fighters including Syrian Kurds for security in the country.

'The United States continues to train local security forces in Syria. The training is meant to create a safe environment for people returning to their devastated areas, 'says the Pentagon statement that says it will be totally transparent with the Turkish government about the plans.

Turkey had previously threatened with intervention in the Syrian Afrin district if the Americans did not withdraw the support to the Kurdish-led troops there. 'We are aware of the security concerns of Turkey, our partner in NATO,' responded the Pentagon.
