- US Vice President Mike Pence on Monday visited the heavily guarded demilitarized zone (DMZ) between North and South Korea. He warned, according to The Washington Post that ' the era of strategic patience is over. '
Pence was thus clearly running out US patience with the Stalinist regime in Pyongyang. He told reporters that President Donald Trump is hopeful that China will use its influence to stop Pyongyang put under pressure with the controversial weapons programs.
Pence visited the border a day after North Korea again had conducted a missile test. The test is considered a failure, because the projectile exploded almost immediately after the launch. The vice president called the test previously ' a provocation '. He suggested that the US and its allies to stabilize the region ' peacefully, or finally by any means necessary ''.
