san francisco - Payment app Square has attracted the creators of chat app Yik Yak. Adopting about five to ten developers, Square cost about $ 3 million, revealing sources to Bloomberg.

Square, of which Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is founder and director, provides a pay platform for retailers. In recent years, however, the company also extended to loans, food delivery and software services.

Yik Yak began in 2013 and offered users the opportunity to chat anonymously with people within 5 miles of each other. The app quickly became popular at universities in the United States, but was criticized for making online bullying easy. After pressure from, inter alia, women's rights organizations, many universities talked about a ban. Meanwhile, the app became less popular and last year 60% of employees were already fired. At the peak, the startup value was estimated at around $ 400 million.
