Parisian rat colony thrives

paris - Paris sighs under a rat plague. The animals are now so brutal that they no longer attract passers-by and show themselves in broad daylight, the newspaper Le Parisien reports.

One of the causes of the rat plague is the anti-terrorism policy of the French capital. It now has waste bins that make it easy for the police to see if there is an explosive in it, but that makes it easier for the rodents to enter. The waste processing of restaurants also leaves much to be desired; some bistros simply put the garbage bags outside without having to put them in a sealed container.

In addition, climate change plays a role in the rat colony. Because the winters are shorter and less cold, the animals reproduce faster. Two rats can get as many as one hundred offspring in a year.
