paris - Because of the high water level in the Seine, the authorities in Paris have removed various roads and paths along the banks. The water level of the river reached a level of almost 4 meters on Monday. According to reports in the media, the water level could rise even further.

Pedestrians and cyclists are no longer allowed to enter a kilometer-long park on both banks of the Seine, where there are also cafés and playgrounds, confirmed the police. The high water levels remain well below 6.10 meters in June 2016 and the 8.62 meters from 1910. However, the authorities call for caution.

The city urged the residents not to store valuables in cellars. With the rising groundwater these can be damaged. The prefecture of the Capital Region also called social services to inform homeless people who camp on the banks of the Seine.
