paris - The French capital of Paris will auction some of the love slots that hung on the famous Pont des Arts across the Seine. The proceeds of the auction coming Saturday will go to aid organizations dedicated to refugees in Paris. 'I think that's a nice message,' said local mayor Bruno Julliard. 'This helps to prove that we are a solid, rich and open city.'

Numerous couples have closed over the last few years with their names attached to the pedestrian rail leaning near the Louvre. World-famous use is seen by many people as a symbol of eternal love. But after some of the railing collapsed, 'the city of love' grabbed and removed all locks two years ago and put new handrails.

From Wednesday there are now 150 beads with padlocks to be seen. They come with an estimated value of 150 to 200 euros under the hammer. In addition, fifteen large handrails are filled with locks on the auction: estimated value of 5000 to 10,000 euros.
