- An imperial palace which wrote the thirteenth century explorer Marco Polo, may be found. Remains of the palace from the Yuan Dynasty are found among the Forbidden City in Beijing, reports the newspaper South China Morning Post.

Marco Polo visited the imperial palace of the Mongol leader Kublai Khan, which he described as,, the largest palace that has ever existed. ' The walls were covered with gold and silver and 6,000 people could dine in the main hall.,, The palace was made of bamboo, held by two hundred silk cords '', the pioneer wrote.

During underground work, archaeologists discovered a foundation that would be exceptional for Chinese works of a younger date. Part of the foundation would be even older and date from the time of previous dynasties.
