moscow - Russian opposition leader Aleksej Navalni was arrested in Moscow when he wanted to join a demonstration. In Moscow and other cities in Russia, Saturday is demonstrated against President Vladimir Putin. Navalni has called for this on the occasion of the official start of Putin's fourth term as president. He will be sworn on Monday.

With the slogan 'no tsar for us' the demonstrators oppose Putin's long reign, which has been in power since 2000. Putin won the presidential election in March with 70 percent of the votes. He did not have serious competition. Navalni was not allowed to participate because he has a criminal record because of a conviction in 2016 for fraud. According to the opposition leader, it was a political process at the time.
