- Today, viruses and other malicious software mainly designed to steal data or money, but that was not always the case. According to a digitally visit the Online Malware Museum, a new site that old computer viruses are available.

The 'museum' is to visit via Archive. org. On this site are also archived websites, programs and old games. And now also viruses, thanks to an initiative of Archive. org employee Jason Scott and security researcher Mikko Hypponen of F-Secure.

The malware, viruses currently only for the DOS operating system, turned on the website in an emulated environment. Visitors need not worry that their computer is infected, because not only the viruses are not suitable for Windows or Mac OS X, there is only shown the audiovisual part. Thus, at the Walker virus suddenly see a man running through image while Morse. com emits a message in Morse code.

The viruses were quite harmful- a computer could this crash- but the intention of the authors was just to tease.

The Malware museum can be visited here.
