london - One in six children grow up in a crisis area. Especially in Syria, Afghanistan and Somalia there are particularly great dangers here, warns Save the Children in a report. Children should be much better protected, says the international aid organization.

The number of children in conflict areas is growing. Now, 357 million children live in such circumstances, 75 percent more than at the beginning of the 1990s. Almost half of them live in areas where there is war. They run the risk of mutilation or threaten to be recruited as child soldiers.

The number of children killed or injured by the conflicts has increased by 300 percent since 2010. Moreover, fewer and fewer children have access to humanitarian aid.
