bienvenida - The 113-year-old Francisco Núñez Olivera, who was the oldest man in the world, died on Monday night.

Francisco was born in the village of Bienvenida in the southwest of Spain. He lived his entire life in this village, where he also died.

His secret: vegetables from the garden and every day a walk and a glass of red wine. He worked on his family farm, where he cultivated olive trees and vines. He was on the 13th of December. The First World War broke out when Francisco was nine years old and the Spaniard fought in the 1920s in the Rif War. He leaves behind two children, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He survived his two eldest sons and his wife, who died in 1988.

The oldest man in the world is now the Japanese Masazou Nonaka (112). The oldest woman also comes from Japan. With her 117 years she is the oldest person in the world.
