Official death toll Sulawesi is approaching 2000

palu - The Indonesian authorities have increased the death toll of the earthquake and the tsunami on Sulawesi to 1944. The disaster occurred in the northwest of the island and devastated a large part of the city of Palu. There a neighborhood was swallowed by the earth. Nothing is known about the fate of about five thousand residents.

It is feared that elsewhere on the island missing people will no longer be recovered alive.
