- Six women have jointly filed a formal complaint against the former film producer Harvey Weinstein and his former company. It is the first official complaint filed with a court in New York. The women demand that Weinstein be accountable in a process.
In the indictment they talk about, among other things, inflicting bodily injury and a coercive situation. 'Harvey Weinstein has repeatedly abused us and many other women and abused his wealth and power to threaten, frighten, molest and silence us,' said the women.
The first allegations against Weinstein followed in October on reports of sexual harassment in The New York Times. He admitted a few things. Later, Weinstein said that he had not had sex without the consent of women. The police investigate the accusations in several cities.
This was followed by a series of complaints against well-known men, including film stars, journalists and politicians. The women and men who subsequently expressed themselves in action #MeToo on social media was rewarded today with the title 'person of the year' of Time Magazine.
