baghdad - Iraqi troops started an offensive on Saturday to recapture the town of Rawa on the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group. Rawa is the last place it still has in Iraq.
For the refurbishment of Rawa, two infantry divisions and some Sunni militias were used. Rawa is located on the river Euphrates in the border with Syria.
Last week, Iraqi troops conquered the city of al-Qaim, located about 90 kilometers from Rawa, on IS.
